Simone Bouyer is a self taught artist who has been painting powerful portraits of African-American people for more than 15 years.
"Through these portraits I am redefining and recreating powerful images of African-Americans in a way that empowers and energizes many of contemporary societies positive values and beliefs. My works portray proud and intelligent men and women who care about the numerous possibilities life has to offer. I invite you to experience this heightened sense of power and magnitude for yourselves by immersing yourself in my portraits."
Simone has exhibited her works in over 50 galleries, museums and public spaces, including the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, the Wood Street Gallery, WomanMade Gallery, the Southside Community Arts Center, the South Shore Cultural Center, the Southport Gallery, the Daley Center, and the State of Illinois Building.
Simone is currently working on a new series of non-figurative works, composed entirely on the computer. |
